Module One – Understanding Language, Methodology and Resources for Teaching (60 credits)

Assessment

  • ⦁ 2 x Externally Set and Externally Marked assignments (3500 words each) (40 credits)
  • ⦁ 1 x Viva Voce Assessment (20 mins) (20 credits)


Module Two – Principles of English Language Teaching

Assessment

  • ⦁ 1 x Externally Set and Externally Marked assignment (3500 words) (20 credits)
  • ⦁ It also includes video evidence of delivery practice and a portfolio of evidence that substantiates progression towards this delivery. This in effect is evidence of observing lessons, evaluating those lessons and of preparing, teaching, resourcing and delivering (at least four) four lessons – including the externally assessed video performance.

    *Learners will have been teaching/observing and involved in feedback on a total of 20 hours of teaching practice which will both enable them to reflect critically and evaluate their own and others' practice and in turn aid their professional development. (40 credits)


Module Three – Research Report

Candidates can choose from two options:

  • Option 1: Extending practice and English language teaching specialism
    This module focuses on needs analysis, syllabus design, course planning and assessment in the context of a selected Specialism.

  • Option 2: Second Language Acquisition – concepts and theories


Assessment (for both options):
  • Extended written assignment of 5,000–5,500 words, focusing on the teacher’s chosen specialist area of teaching (Option 1) or Second Language Acquisition (Option 2).(60 credits)
